The Police have arrested a key suspect Salifu Kabore in the Kwapong police station attack in the Brong Ahafo region.
The Kwapong incident is second deadly occurrence in the Brong Ahafo region within a week
He was arrested after sustaining gunshot wounds during the clash with the police in the early hours of Saturday 15 August, 2015, which led to the destruction of the Police Station and a break into Police cell.
he is currently receiving treatment at the hospital under strict police guard.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement has condemned in no uncertain terms the mob attack on the Kwapong Police station.
In a statement signed by the director general of police public affairs, DCOP David Ampah Benin, the police further condemned the lynching of a fetish priest, Efo Kodzo, and the loss of another life.
"It must be noted that this is not the first time the people of Kwapong have attacked and vandalized their Police Station. In 1991 some inhabitants of the town invaded the Police Station destroyed property on charge the station, killing a Police Sergeant." DCOP Ampa Benin said.
The Kwapong police station attack is the second of two dreadful attacks in the Brong Ahafo region. The first was the Tuobodom incident in which gun wielding men fired and killed five people. This was followed by reprisal attacks which saw some houses being torched.
The police administration urged persons who have any grievances to resort to the appropriate quarters for redress.
