The clashes which begun on Wednesday, July 21, after a chieftaincy impasse between the two royal families in the community has claimed five lives.
The military was invited following the failure of the police in the region to contain violent clashes between two royal gates in a chieftaincy dispute.
Residents are said to be fleeing the area to safety as a mob of agitated youth from adjourning communities are moving into the conflict zone to support their loyalist.
The two communities have been fighting over the supervision of mining activities after two chiefs were enskinned by the Yabonwura and Bolewura.
Addressing Journalists at Bole, the Northern regional Police Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah said
“The area is inaccessible, and that makes it difficult for the security to go there, it is very difficult to go there using a vehicle, you have to go there on a bike hence the need for us to strategise before dispatching security personnel to the area.
“So as I speak to you now, military troops have been dispatched to the area to restore peace. We need to be a little more patient and strategies,” .
He added that the Police do not have accurate information on the exact casualty hence, its inability to comment on the matter.
He, However, assured that the Police would relay information as soon as they can get the exact facts on the incident.
