President John Mahama has urged for greater voter education to help address the concerns of the electorate among supporters of the ruling NDC.
According to him, over three-hundred thousand spoilt ballots were recorded in the 2012 elections, with majority coming from the North.
As part of his campaign tour in the Northern region, he said the NDC will embark on an exercise to educate voters, especially women in its efforts to reduce cases of spoilt ballots.
President Mahama addressing party supporters at Kpandai as part of his 4 days campaign tour of the Northern Region, he said “There's no need to panic in the booth while casting your vote. On many occasions when you are given the ballot papers, some voters especially our mothers, have their thumb print crossing the space allocated unto the other, rendering the vote invalid. It is therefore important that we take you through this exercise to ensure that you do the right thing."
He added that "When the time comes, Parliamentary candidates together with university students will move from door to door to take voters especially our mothers through the voting process and ensure the right thing is done come December 7."
Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, to elect a president and Parliamentarians. The frontrunners are President John Mahama of the ruling NDC and Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP.
