Sanni Darra blasts Ashgold for boycotting medal ceremony
The Communications director for the GFA has criticised the the Ghana champions for boycotting the medal ceremony of the Super Cup
Ashgold had perfect goal disallowed, before Medeama SC scored a similar goal two minutes later to snatch a late minute winner.
The Miners following the defeat with the thinking that they suffered from unfair officiating from referee Daniel Laryea and his assistants decided to walk off the pitch without receiving their medals and also snubbed the press.
Sanni Darra, who witnessed the unsporting behavior from Ashgold has expressed his disappointment at what happened and has therefore criticised the Ghana Premier League champions
“It was unfair that Ashgold decided not to grant interview to the media. They could have spent their weekend at Labadi beach, but they offered to come to the stadium to cover the match.
“I even tried to persuade their officials to let the players collect the medals, but they wouldn’t listen. I was surprised to hear Kudjoe Fianoo say the medals were not enough and that was the reason behind their decision not to collect, but the truth is that we had medals for all the 18 players and had gifts wrapped nicely for the team officials," he told Happy FM.
Ashgold wil face M.O Bejaia from Algeria in the first leg of the CAF Champions League at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday.
