The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) is calling for a suspension of the energy pricing arrangement that requires industries to pay more for energy.

Under this pricing system, industries are made to pay for power than domestic customers in order to subsidize the prices of electricity supply for households.
In an exclusive interview with pulse.com.gh, president of AGI, James Asare-Adjei said " the policy of charging industries more for power in order to subsidize residential customers must be stopped. We feel it is not helping."
The AGi president also emphasized that government's aim must be to reduce the burden on industries in order to boost the manufacturing sector.

" The arrangement is making Ghanaian industries uncompetitive because energy is key in our production. The ministry must change this policy" he stressed.
AGI released their Business Barometer Report for the second quarter of 2015, in which businesses in Ghana identified energy supply and the cost of energy as the second most challenging constraint to their business operations. Energy also ranked high on their list in the past three consecutive Business Barometer reports.
