This is due to the introduction of a new Instrument, the Public Elections Registration of Voters Regulation, which is currently before parliament and expected to come effect on Friday.
The Constitutional Instrument 91 comes ahead of the Limited voter registration exercise in April which will enable persons who could not register during the last exercise and those who turned 18 years to register.
It is reported that during such exercises and elections in general, minors and other impersonators register or vote.
The Vice chairman of the subsidiary legislation, Kofi Osei Ameyaw has told Accra-based Joy FM that the new regulation would deter people from committing such electoral fraud.
"The punishment is also for Ghanaians who are not qualified but still want to register...That fraud must stop because if we are to get Ghanaians electing our leaders there must not be any external forces coming in to dictate to us," he said.
He added that the public will be educated on the new Instrument so they will be aware of the risk involved in committing that fraud.
