Kotoko enlist police help to combat fake jersey sales

Ghana Premier League team Kumasi Asante Kotoko take drastic measures to prevent unauthorised sales of the club's replica jerseys

Ghana Premier League team Kumasi Asante Kotoko has deployed extensive measures in collaboration with the police to battle the sales of unauthorised replica jerseys of the club.

Kotoko in a press statement announcing the sales of replica jerseys for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season this weekend said the club has notified the Ghana Police Service to arrest any illegal sales person of their merchandise.

The statement which was signed by the club’s communications manager, Michael Nkansah read:

“As a result of this development [announcement of replica jersey sales], the NCC [National Circles Council] has set up a task force to get rid of all unauthorized replica jerseys currently in the system and the police has been notified to cause the arrest of any unauthorized distributor or seller of the new replica jerseys with the aid of the task force set up by the NCC without accreditation and or mandate to do so.”

Officially, the sales of the Asante Kotoko replica jerseys will go on sales from accredited distributors and or agents starting Saturday, February 20, 2016.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko open their 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League season with a trip to Sogakope where they are set to play against WAFA in their first league game of the season.
