Citi FM reports that the incident occurred on Saturday night after students protested against a disciplinary measure imposed on one of them, by a friend of a teacher of the school, who had accompanied the teacher to the premises that night.
Further reports claim the visiting friend of the teacher went as far as lashing the student for a “misbehaviour” [improper dressing], a situation that angered the students who reacted in a violent manner.
The students subsequently went on rampage, destroying sections of dormitories, administrative block and classroom structures.
The headmaster of the school was also reportedly attacked, with his motor-bike smashed by the angry students.

The Police were called to maintain calm after which the school was shut down indefinitely.
Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM, the Upper West Regional Director of Education, Evans Kpebah, said “the situation is currently under control”.
According to him, a five-member committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the riots.
