Afriyie is heard calling himself “ugly” possibly referring to the effect used in the video, but Wakaso then interjects him, saying he had always been ugly.

He is currently at the center of a scandal involving alleged leaked audio clips of his wife claiming t have slept with Jordan Ayew for years before marrying the player. In the same audio, she is heard refering to Afriyie as a "monkey"
