A 25-year-old woman, Cheyanne Jessie from Lakeland, Florida, USA, has been arrested and charged with murdering her 50-year-old father, Mark Weekly, and her six-year-old daughter, Meredith, because they were interfering in her relationship with her boyfriend, reports About Crime.
After the cold blooded double murders, Jessie put the bodies into bags and took them to a storage facility to hid them, then called the police on August 1, to report that the two were missing.
The police found the bodies the next day and Jessie was arrested and charged with their murders after their bodies were found decomposing in a neighbor's storage shed. She has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Authorities said the motive for the murders was almost as horrific as the crime itself: the single mother, who works as a cashier at a big-box store, didn't want her daughter interfering with her relationship with a new boyfriend.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said during a press conference:
"Nothing is more horrific than the murder of a child, except when it's done by a parent, and that's what we saw.
This is the face and this is the eyes of a cold-blooded murderer. She not only murdered them, but left them in the residence for many days until it became painfully evident she had to move them.
We can't understand in our minds how someone could murder their 6-year-old baby girl and murder their dad."
Judd said Jessie showed no emotion during interviews with investigators and she continued to go to work at a nearby retail store while the bodies of her family members were decomposing.
