The incident happened at Ezimuko Nsukwu village, Abatete, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria.

Reports say Ifeanyi had requested for money from his father who until his death was a trailer driver to buy a new motorbike because the one he had been using was no more usable, but the father declined, saying he had no money.

Sun News quoted a source as having said that: “His mother was screaming for help when she saw Ifeanyi with a knife but he did not hesitate to stab her in her shoulder and, as she fell on the ground, he thought she was also dead. And in a bid to escape the wrath of the law, he tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself severally in the chest before he was held by the security men.”

Confirming the incident, Divisional police officer at Ogidi, Mark Ijarafu said that the corpse of Osita Oguejiofor had been deposited at Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital morgue in Ogidi and the mother was treated in an undisclosed hospital.
