A wonderful phenomenon happened across the skies all over the world yesterday. Something astronomers call the ‘blood moon’ – a phenomenon in which the moon is red resulting from the combination of a super moon and a lunar eclipse – and it was witnessed by many people around the world.
From the Americas to Europe to our very own African continent, the rare astronomical event in which the moon appears to redden in the night sky was a wonderful spectacle to behold.

And true to form, many pictures of this rare combination of an eclipse with the closest full moon of the year were taken.
