Defending champion Novak Djokovic sauntered into the third round of Wimbledon by wrapping up another straight-sets victory over Adrian Mannarino under the roof on Centre Court.

The world number one only needed three sets to beat James Ward in the first round on Monday and eased to a 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-5) win over Mannarino two days later.

Top seed Djokovic, eyeing a third consecutive Wimbledon title, left plenty in the tank as he outclassed the world number 55, taking two hours and four minutes to oust the Frenchman.

The 12-time major champion, halfway to winning a first calendar Grand Slam, will face either Thomaz Bellucci or Sam Querrey - unable to start their match on time due to the rain on Wednesday - in round three.

Mannarino started with confidence and was presented with two break points when Djokovic netted a backhand, but the all-conquering Serb got himself out of trouble.

A thumping forehand winner earned the favourite a break point of his own in the fourth game, but left-hander Mannarino held, only to go a set down when he netted twice under pressure.

Mannarino gave a good account of himself in the opening set, but was under the pump at the start of the second as the ruthless Djokovic stretched his winning run to five games by racing into a 3-0 lead.

Djokovic upped his first-serve percentage to ensure Mannarino was not given a look in, dropping just four points on serve in the second set as he looked to finish off the job in a hurry.

Mannarino forced a tie-break by breaking when Djokovic failed to serve out the match. The three-time Wimbledon champion was not to be denied another straight-sets win, though, producing some stunning winners in the breaker to seal yet another victory.
