Kevin Durant praised his Oklahoma City Thunder team-mates after his 41-point showing helped them tie their playoff series with the San Antonio Spurs at 2-2.

Kevin Durant heaped praise on his Oklahoma City Thunder team-mates after his 41-point showing helped them tie their NBA Western Conference semi-final series with the San Antonio Spurs at 2-2.

The Thunder had suffered a 100-96 home loss in game three last Friday but responded in style on Sunday in game four, Durant leading the way with 14 field goals - including a trio of three pointers - to lead Oklahoma City to a 111-97 victory.

"Those 40-point nights, they don't come a lot. I just try to be consistent with what I do," Durant told a media conference.

"I know at any moment I can go off and hit a few shots. I just tried to stay with it and play as hard as I can on both ends of the floor, leave it all out there.

"My team-mates did a great job of sticking with me, finding me and giving me easy baskets, sacrificing their bodies for me and I'm definitely grateful for it."

The series now returns to San Antonio for game five, and head coach Billy Donovan praised his team's spirit in ensuring the Spurs will not have the chance to wrap up the series on Tuesday.

"Obviously you come off a difficult loss, and you know you've got to rebound, regroup, try to figure out where you need to get better," Donovan said.

"There's a lot of character, we're not perfect but these guys really fight and battle and compete with each other and for each other. "
