Sonny Bill Williams scored a try with his first touch in his World Rugby Sevens Series debut for New Zealand on Saturday.
The iconic dual-code centre came off the bench to make his sevens bow against Russia in Wellington and made an immediate impact, going over in a 38-7 victory over Russia.
New Zealand won all three matches at the Westpac Stadium to set up a quarter-final against Kenya on Sunday.
Williams said: "Hopefully I can grow into the tournament and just keep learning. It was a sneaky scab try, I was just backing up, but like I said I just want to learn. I am grateful to be playing amongst such talented players.
"It is always good to play at home, and in the All Blacks jersey, in Wellington, from an NZ perspective I'm not sure it gets much bigger than this."
Two-time World-Cup winner Williams is set to feature at the Rio Olympic Games later this year.
