The baby has since been taken to Gbawe Police pending further investigations, the Daily Graphic reports.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector John Gohoho, the accused on July 7, 2017, appeared at the Zion clinic at Top Base/Gbawe with a male child who seemed not more than a day old.

She told the hospital authorities that she was in labour and gave birth to quadruplets in the taxi but three of the babies died, leaving one who needed medical attention.

But the owner of the clinic suspected foul play and reported the incident to the police.

The prosecutor added that the accused, Mrs Appiah was arrested and the baby was taken away from her.

It later emerged in the course of investigations that she was not the biological mother of the baby.

She has since refused to disclose the source of the baby, Inspector Gohoho added.
