Former polling station secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo Constituency, Samuel Agyei Gyimah has been remanded into prison custody by the Nsuta Circuit Court after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of offensive conduct.

He was put before the court following his arrest in relation to an alleged verbal abuse of the party’s council of elders in the area, the constituency officers and the Member of Parliament (MP) on August 30.

When he made his first appearance before the court, Samuel Agyei Gyimah pleaded not guilty to the charge and was for that reason remanded by the court presided over by Ms. Lydia Osei Marfo to reappearance on Thursday, September 28.

Prosecuting, Detective Inspector Emmanuel Nyamekye narrated to the court that, the constituency NASARA Coordinator had made a pilgrimage to Mecca, and while away, the party’s motorbike in his possession was being used by another person.

He said the accused stopped the ‘temporary’ user to query him about his use of the motorbike, leading to an altercation between them.

According to the prosecution, a party elder, Nana Kwame Antwi, met the two gentlemen during the incident and attempted to intervene, but the accused who could not control his anger, rained insults on him and all the other party leaders including MP for the area.

A formal complaint was made to the police and the accused was subsequently arrested.
