'Dumsor has affected our business' - prostitutes cry over low patronage

Prostitutes have also joined the fray to put pressure on government to end the erratic power supply since it's affecting their business.

Commercial sex workers in the Ashaiman municipality have cried out over low patronage from their clients due to the ongoing power crisis.

The sex workers who ply their trade in Ashaiman are irritated because of poor economic management with some saying that the situation is putting them out of business.

A visit by Pulse.com.gh to the 'Ashawo' market in Ashaiman indicates that prostitutes blamed the decline in patronage on dumsor.

It was also gathered that most of the owners of hot spots and brothels around some major streets within the municipality have also complained about low patronage from clients who usually engage the services of the sex workers.

According to some of the prostitutes, they used to charge GHc5 for the short time, thus one round of sexually escapade but they now charge GHc 7 per round since prices of every commodity have soared considerably including condoms.

They said special services or special style are determined by its price. Some who spoke on condition of anonymity said the business was booming but business has not been good this time.

They said the economic crunch is now driving away customers therefore the need for them to find solace at other money making avenues.
