<p>Jose Mourinho has been warned that he could face punishment from his own club after pinching the nose of Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk. </p>

<p>The incident took place after a heated Turkish Cup quarter-final between Galatasaray and <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/sports/jose-mourinho-slaps-translator-for-confusing-twilight-with-toilet-video-2025020618060289472">Mourinho’s Fenerbahce</a> on Wednesday night.</p>

<p>Galatasaray won the match thanks to two goals from Victor Osimhen. The game was tense, with emotions running high. </p>

<p>During stoppage time, a clash between the two benches resulted in red cards for Fenerbahce’s Mert Yandas and Galatasaray players Kerem Demirbay and Baris Yilmaz.</p>

<p>Tensions continued after the final whistle, as both managers were speaking with the match officials in the centre circle. Mourinho walked up behind Buruk and pinched his nose, causing the Galatasaray coach to react by covering his face and falling to the ground.</p>

<p>Galatasaray’s vice-president, Metin Ozturk, criticised <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/sports/football/jose-mourinho-says-turkish-football-is-dark-and-smells-bad-after-fenerbahce-3-2-win-2024111914081340870">Mourinho’s behaviour</a>, calling it a physical attack. He suggested that Fenerbahce might punish their own manager before the Turkish Football Federation takes action.</p>

<p>Ozturk questioned Mourinho’s actions, saying he would not behave this way in any other country and urging Fenerbahce to take responsibility.</p>

<p>Buruk himself dismissed the incident, saying there was no real issue between him and Mourinho. However, he admitted that the action was not very respectful. He added that managers should behave better in such situations and that Mourinho’s move lacked class.</p>

<p>Galatasaray later mocked Mourinho on social media, posting a picture of Buruk smiling in his direction with the caption: "YOU SHOULD NOT ATTACK, YOU SHOULD DIGEST!" accompanied by a shushing emoji. Another post featured a cartoon of Mourinho with the words, "Galatasaray drives you crazy."</p>

<p>This is not Mourinho’s first controversy this season. In February, he was given a four-game ban for criticising match officials after a previous game against Galatasaray. </p>

<p>He was also<a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/sports/jose-mourinho-banned-4-matches-for-racist-remarks-after-the-istanbul-derby-2025022720505892813"> accused of making racist comments</a>, which Fenerbahce denied, stating that they had taken legal action against Galatasaray for defamation.</p>

<p>Nigeria international<a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/sports/football/victor-osimhen-not-leaving-galatasaray-in-january-reports-2025010610351656775"> Victor Osimhen</a> has denied allegations that he hit and punched a Turkish journalist last Thursday, two days after Galatasaray’s 3-3 UEFA Europa League draw with Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday.</p>

<p>The incident reportedly happened in a night club and Osimhen is reported to have assaulted Tolga Bozduman for taking pictures of him.</p>

<p>Photographers surrounded Osimhen, who was wearing a bright yellow hoodie and beanie, as he and his group were leaving the posh nightclub. According to witnesses, the scene quickly got out of hands.</p>

<p>Osimhen reportedly lost his temper as the camera shutters clicked away, and there have been claims that he physically abused Bozduman.</p>

<p>Bozduman further claimed the 26-year-old attacker tried to bribe him to draw a veil over the incident.</p>

<p>The Suger Eagles target man has been in superb form since joining the Turkish club in a loan deal from Napoli in September 2024. He has contributed to 18 goals in 14 starts – scoring 13 and assisting another five this season.</p>

<p>Other reports suggest <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/sports/football/galatasaray-vs-tottenham-osimhens-brace-sinks-10-man-spurs-in-the-europa-league-2024111914221663343">Galatasaray</a> could receive around €10 million as compensation if the loan agreement is terminated early.</p>

<p>A Turkish court sentenced the former top executive to almost three and a half years in prison on Monday for assaulting the referee on the field following the conclusion of a top-flight league match the previous season.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After Rizespor scored a last-minute equalizer on December 11, 2023, fans stormed the field, kicking Meler as he lay to the ground.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Turkish Football Federation suspended all league games for a few weeks as a result of the incident, which sparked outrage around the world.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, Koca was found guilty of <em>"intentionally wounding a public official"</em> by the Ankara court and given a three-year, seven-month prison sentence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The court deferred Koca's sentencing but found him guilty of threatening the referee and breaking regulations meant to deter violence in sports.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Other perpetrators also found guilty&nbsp;</h2>

<p>According to the agency, three further defendants who were also on trial for assaulting the referee received prison sentences ranging from one to five years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;It is anticipated that Koca, who quit as club president shortly after the incident, would appeal the decision. Last year, he was briefly detained before being freed on bail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The defendants' attorneys had earlier asked for their acquittal, arguing that the offense was done under<em> "unjust provocation,"</em> according to Anadolu.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In addition to having to play five home games without supporters, Ankaragucu was fined 2 million Turkish Lira ($59,000).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>"The referee was just a little boy that was there on the pitch, but the referee was Atilla Karaoglan. I think I am speaking on behalf of every Fenerbahce fan - we don't want him again.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>"We don't want him as a VAR. It smells bad. We don't want him on the pitch but, on the VAR, even less,” </em>a furious Mourinho lamented.&nbsp;</p>
