Stephen Moore and Christian Lealiifano will share the Brumbies captaincy for the 2016 Super Rugby season.

After holding the sole captaincy last term, Moore has been joined in the role by Australia international team-mate Lealiifano, who re-signed with the team until 2017.

Hooker Moore, who led the Wallabies to the 2015 Rugby World Cup final, believes it is up to the pair to ensure the new arrangement works.

"There'll be people out there who'll think it can't work and it's up to us to make sure it does," Moore said in a statement.

"I do think that the concept of co-leadership is the way forward. I think leaving it all to one person is not necessarily the best way to do it.

"I want to learn as much as I can from him and continue to grow as a leader. I think this structure will really help that happen."

Lealiifano thinks the co-captaincy can have a beneficial impact on the team dynamic.

"I think the beauty of this group at the moment is we have two leaders that are open to hearing everyone's opinion and making the best decision for our team," he added.
