Forward creates shirt record at Stoke City

Xherdan Shaqiri's jersey is the fastest selling shirt in the history of the club while request for tickets have also increased after the signing of the forward

 

After completed a club record transfer of  £12million from Inter Milan to Stoke City, forward Xherdan Shaqiri has created his own history even without kicking a ball.

According to Stoke City, the forward's jersey is the highest selling shirt in the history of the club.

Retail stores according to the Stoke City's website have also been receiving an unprecedented level of orders with the Shaqiri-printed '22' shirts.

The arrival of the Switzerland international has also prompted fans of the club to buy out all the tickets for their next game against Tottenhman have all been purchased.

'The Ticket Office has been inundated with requests to purchase season cards and tickets for upcoming matches," a club statement also read.

The 23-year-old forward has also expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

"I am very happy, and incredibly excited that this transfer to Stoke City has finally happened," Shaqiri said after signing a five-year-deal with the club.

"Over the past three days I have met great people at the club and witnessed the wonderful atmosphere at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday [against Liverpool]. That experience was overwhelming.

"My special thanks go to the manager, , chief executive and [technical director] for their work in helping to make this deal happen over the past few months.

"I sincerely appreciate it so much, and will give my utmost to pay them and the supporters back on the pitch over the coming months and years.

"I can't wait to meet my new team-mates and make my debut for the club. It feels great to finally be a Potter!"
