Andrew Bogut has ridiculed the state of athletes accommodation in Rio de Janeiro after touching down in Brazil for Australia's Olympic campaign.

The Boomers star - newly acquired by the Dallas Mavericks after four years at the Golden State Warriors - was less than impressed with his rooms, sarcastically tweeting about the accommodation including a picture of him having to assemble his own shower curtains.

Bogut, who also sarcastically described the rooms as "lovely" and "fitting", posted under the hashtag #IOCLuxuryLodging which even spawned its own parody account.

"In the OLY village. Upon first looks its only fitting I will be posting pics with the hashtag #IOCLuxuryLodging #rio2016," he tweeted.

"Keep checking in throughout the OLYS for more lovely snaps on behalf of our friends @ #IOCLuxuryLodging."

With just single beds available to the athletes, one wonders how Bogut - who stands at over two metres tall - will manage to get any sleep, not that he envisages any problems.

"At #IOCLuxuryLodging we believe a bed is not vital for sleep. Fine tuned athletes can sleep standing up," Bogut tweeted sarcastically.

Bogut is just the latest Australian to express their unhappiness with the accommodation at the Olympic Village, after the Aussie section of accommodation was evacuated due to a fire last week.
