Consumers of sachet water in Ghana are set to face higher prices from Monday, April 6, 2026, following a formal announcement by the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP). The increase affects ex-factory, ex-truck, and maximum retail prices across the country.

In a statement released on April 2, 2026, NASPAWAP explained that the price revision is a response to the global shortage of polymers and the sharp rise in their costs, worsened by the ongoing conflict in Iran. These factors have significantly impacted production costs, making it increasingly difficult for manufacturers to maintain current prices.

The new pricing structure is as follows: ex-factory price of GH¢8 per bag of 500ml x 30 sachets, ex-truck price of GH¢10, and a maximum retail price of GH¢15 per bag of 500ml x 30 sachets.

“We urge retailers and consumers to adhere to these prices to ensure fair trade practices,” the association stated.

NASPAWAP emphasised that the adjustment is a recommended review aimed at sustaining the sachet water industry amid rising operational costs. Industry insiders note that the increase is expected to affect small-scale retailers and urban consumers most, particularly those who rely on daily purchases of sachet water.

The association said it remains committed to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure a balanced market that protects both producers and consumers.

With sachet water being an essential commodity for millions of Ghanaians, the new prices mark a significant development in the country’s packaged water sector.
