Ghanaian singer Feli Nuna has opened up about distressing experiences she says she faced within the music industry, revealing how they affected her wellbeing and ultimately led her to step away from her career for a period.

In an interview with 3Music TV, the artiste recounted an unsettling incident that occurred in 2022 while she was promoting her single BumBum in Accra. What began as a routine media engagement, she said, quickly took an uncomfortable turn.

She revealed;

I was sexually harassed when I went to one of the media houses in Accra for promotional engagements for my ‘BumBum’ single. It was someone I knew

Reflecting more broadly, Feli Nuna suggested that her experience points to a deeper issue within the industry, where female artistes are sometimes undervalued.

I wasn’t valued for my skills and efforts. It was more about what they could get from me sexually

She said, expressing frustration over what she described as misplaced priorities.

She also spoke about another troubling moment during the same year, when she was promoting her song Towel. According to her, a confrontation with certain industry figures left a lasting impact.

She disclosed;

I had an altercation when I was promoting ‘Towel’ in 2022. I had three gatekeepers who said it was okay to sleep with your female artiste because she’s a woman,

Feli Nuna explained that the cumulative effect of these experiences became overwhelming, prompting her to take a break from the spotlight. She noted that stepping back was necessary for her to regain emotional balance and reassess her path before making a return to music.
