Ghanaian female athlete qualifies for IAAF World Championship

Amponsah has sealed her qualification for the upcoming 2017 IAAF World championship which will be held in London this summer.

For the second consecutive day, the Middle Tennessee record books were rewritten as Janet Amponsah set a new school mark to close out the War Eagle Invitational.

Amponsah clocked a 23.10 in the women's 200-meter dash to take second place and take over as the school's record holder.

Julia Jelagat took second in the open section of the women's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:44.31.

Rhema Cheruiyot followed with a second-place finish in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking a 11:18.90.

This means Amponsah has sealed her qualification for the upcoming 2017 IAAF World championship which will be held in London this summer.

She thus becomes the first Ghanaian athlete to qualify for the World championship.
