Avram Grant’s side managed to record narrow 1-0 wins over Uganda and Mali with almost the same line-up – only Baba Rahman was replaced due to injury.  But the Israeli tactician could decide to shuffle his pack going into the last group game against Egypt.

It is very likely that Razak Brimah will be retained in post when the Black Stars take on the Pharaohs. The Cordoba shot-stopper was in sublime form in the last game against Mali, making two wonderful last-minute saves to secure victory for the side. And Grant would like to keep Brimah’s momentum going by retaining him in post.

In defense, the Israeli might twist things a bit. The injury of Baba Rahman means Ghana is without a natural left-back in the squad. And with qualification already secured, Barnsley full-back Andy Yiadom could be handed a surprise debut. That could mean shifting the versatile Afful Harrison to the left side of defense.

The central defensive pairing of Daniel Amartey and John Boye could, however, be retained for cohesion sake. The pair are getting to know each other, and with Jonathan Mensah still not fully fit, their retention is a huge possibility.

Perhaps the most difficult decision Avram Grant will have is naming his midfield players for Wednesday’s encounter. The Israeli has so far preferred the dynamic duo of Thomas Partey and Mubarak Wakaso, with Agyeman Badu making second half cameos. The form of Wakaso and Partey, in particular, has made it very difficult for them to be dislodged in the team. However, the Udinese enforcer could be handed a rare start against Egypt, with Partey being rested for the quarter-final encounter.

Winger Christian Atsu could also be rested. That could mean a chance for former WAFA attacker Samuel Tetteh to impress. With an eye on top spot, Grant might decide to retain the experience of Andre Ayew. The West Ham man is yet to sparkle at the tournament and he could just be given a run out to continue regaining his match fitness.

The striking role has been largely occupied by Asamoah Gyan, but he could also be rested for other players to stake a claim. Ebenezer Assifuah and Bernard Tepketey have are yet to make competitive debuts for the Black Stars and this could be the chance to play one of them. Jordan Ayew is likely to be the one to make way for the either of the duo.

Below is the probable line-up:

Razak Briamah;  Afful Harrison, Andy Yiadom, John Boye, Daniel Amartey;   Mubarak Wakaso, Agyeman-Badu, Samuel Tetteh, Andre Ayew;   Ebenezer Assifuah, Asamoah Gyan.
