Principal of Tepa Nursing College cited in GHC10m fraud

Ms. Victoria Amoah and an accountant Asamoah Richard were said to have used fake receipts and invoices to milk the government institution during every admission year, Kumasi-based Ultimate FM reports.

The practice was said to have started in 2011, with checks from the school indicating that at least about 50% of past and current students on campus did not pass through any interview panel as prescribed by the Health Ministry.

The Principal has also been accused of refusing to have students matriculate and undergo medical exams even though they are billed.

One of the students told Ultimate FM on condition of anonymity that authorities extort huge amount of monies through various means.

In an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, the Deputy Health Minister, Tina Mensah said her outfit has ordered a full probe into the activities of the school’s principal.

She said that the findings will be made public after investigations are concluded.

The Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Weija further revealed that the principal was at her office two weeks ago in an attempt to clear her name, a move she [the Minister] found surprising.
