Black Stars to play Ethiopia game without taking bonuses?
Players of the Black Stars are willing to play without bonuses in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Ethiopia, according to reports in the local media.
Some senior players in the national team are reported to have suggested the idea to the hierarchy of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), as a way of showing their commitment.
It will be recalled that the Black Stars have witnessed low turnouts in recent times, since falling out with the home fan base at the 2014 World Cup.
The players reportedly threatened to boycott Ghana’s last group game against Portugal at the tournament in Brazil following a delay in the payment of their bonuses.
The incident led to the team receiving strong bashing from home fans, with the players being labeled as mercenaries.
Ghana will face Ethiopia in an AFCON qualifier on Sunday at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi.

And reports suggest that Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, together with his deputy Andre Ayew are leading a charge for the senior players in the team to play without taking bonuses.
Neither the GFA nor any Black Stars player has confirmed the news, and it remains to be seen if that will really happen.
