Aviation minister blasts shoddy work at Wa Airport; halts further payment to contractor

The minister said the apron and some facilities on the main office block at the construction site had some defects which need to be corrected, warning the construction company, Skill Link Limited, that no shoddy work will be accepted.

“We want value for money work delivery. We will not allow any contractor to short-change the taxpayer. Quality work is our goal,” she said.

She made the statement when she inspected the construction works at the Wa Airport in the Upper West Region to ascertain the progress of work.

The Aviation Minister also asked the Ghana Airport Company to consider the extension of the runway at the airport to facilitate the landing of bigger aircrafts while efforts were also made to seal the underground tunnel which had water passing through, the GNA reported.

“We cannot invest in a facility and allow it to go waste. The Wa Airport has no fire station and we cannot comprise with safety”, she said.
