Andre Ayew : "I wasn't feeling well against Mali"

Deputy Black Stars skipper, Andre Ayew has confirmed that he wasn't in good health condition for Ghana's tie against Mali last week Saturday.

Andre Ayew says he wasnt well when Black Stars defeated Mali 1-0 in Port Gentil, but endured the pain to contribute to the victory.

There was a report that the 27-year-old was doubtful for the Black Stars second group C clash against Mali, however, he was selected to start to the surprise of many.

Andre Ayew's performance on the day was below par and came under intense criticisms, but the West Ham United midfielder says, he played under  a difficult health condition against Mali, because he wanted to contribute his quota to the team's success.

''I wasn't feeling well. I had some temperature and therefore had little training yesterday and the day before but the medical team treated me well.

“I felt I could help and I gave it my all and I'm very happy we got the qualification,'' he said in a post-match interview.

''The sacrifices we are all making are paying off and make you know that hard work really pays off.''
