Asamoah Gyan cites Tevez case in defense of China move

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has defended Carlos Tevez's move to the highly lucrative yet relatively less-regarded Chinese Super League, using the Argentine's case to defend his own decision to move there last year.

Tevez has finalized a high profile move from Boca Juniors to Shanghai Shenhua, signing a deal reportedly worth £615,000 a week: making him the world's highest paid footballer.

Gyan, in what seemed like a subtle rant on social media platform Twitter, said Tevez's decision, like his, is justified.

He went on to take a dig at fans and journalists who criticized his £227,000-a-week move to Shanghai SIPG in in July 2015, saying [SIC] "now they will understand. Why didn't they do program on Ghana tv and insult him (Tevez)? I'm waiting for that program."

Gyan, who currently plays for UAE side Al Ahli on loan from Shanghai SIPG, is expected to lead the Black Stars at the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.

The 31-year-old captained coach Avram Grant's team to second place at the last edition (2015) in Equatorial Guinea.
