Michael Essien on Monday filed a case at the Finance Dispute Resolution chamber of the Greek Football Federation demanding a €651,000 as severance package over the termination of his contract with Panathinaikos last summer.

Michael Essien joined the Greek giants in June, 2015, but he failed to meet the expectations of the club due to injury worries and his deal was terminated in the summer of 2016.
The 34-year-old following several months of termination of his deal has hired Greek lawyers, Lina and Aspa Souloukou in a battle to seek compensation from Panathinaikos for refusing to pay six months of his salaries during the period he offered his service for the club.

However, the lawyers of Panathinaikos have rejected those claims. "He (Essien) came here, he left and he is blackmailing us at the moment. Of the 45 games, he could only play 17,"
