Speaking with Pulse Ghana, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police Command, Sgt. Raymond Asaaba emphasised that the Police will not condone any kind of misconduct from any political party or individual come December 7th.

He said the Central Regional Police Command is poised to ensure a smooth run of the elections in its region, and that any poor behaviour particularly during election day, will be quickly brought to check.

Sgt. Asaaba said 2000 Police, with  sister security agencies such as Immigration, Prison Service  and the Fire Service have been arranged to be deployed into the various polling stations in the region.

In cautioning the citizenry to comply with the rules and regulations by the Electoral Commission during and after the election, he noted that although the E.C. has come out with seven flash points in the region based on past elections. However, stringent measures are being put in place to ensure law and order in the 448  points identified also by the Command.

These identified Flash Points will be equipped with two personnel each who in turn will be liaising with the joint operation centers to report and bring to check anyone who breaks the law on the day of elections.

Despite the efforts the Central Regional Police Command is putting in  preparations towards the coming elections, much is also being done with all stakeholders such as the National Commission for Civic Education (N.C.C.E.), religious bodies and political parties to sensitize the general public on expectations specially on the day.

Sgt. Asaaba however appealed to the general public particularly people and members of the various political parties in the Central Region to be of good behaviour during and after the elections, and that whoever emerges as the winner at the end of the elections should not have a jubilation at the expense of another political party so as not to stir up any mayhem in the country.
