It is surprising to know that the Tarkwwa lads have tasted more victories than the oldest existing club in Ghana: eight (8) wins for Medeama, five (5) for Hearts of Oak and five (5) draws.

Also, they have scored 20 goals and conceded 18 goals in the 18 games played against Hearts of Oak.

The first player to score in Hearts of Oak-Medeaman encounters was James Boadu: It happened on 2nd December, 2007 and Medeama (Kessben at the time) won 1-0.

At the home base of Accra Hearts of Oak, they have played nine (9) times. Each side has four (4) wins to it credit, with just a game ending in a draw. Co-incidentally, they have scored 11 goals apiece in Accra.

Hearts of Oak have not beaten Medeama since the 2011-12 season: The Phobians won that encounter 2-1.

Last season Medeama edged Hearts of Oak by a goal to nil in Accra in the second half of the season to avenge their 2-0 home defeat to the 20 times Ghana champions.

The win was Medeama’s second away victory on the road, while it was Hearts of Oak’s fourth (4) home league defeat and the last home lose.

Hearts of Oak are yet to play a home league game, since then. They had scored in every home game, but the 0-1 defeat to the Yellow and Mauves side meant they were denied the opportunity to put a ball at the back of the net for the first time last season.
