Marwako supervisor to appeal jail term

Lawyers for Chaaban said they do not agree with the judgement and would appeal the process.

Jihad Chaaban, the Lebanese supervisor of the Abelemkpe branch of Marwako Fast Foods Limited has said that he will appeal against the nine-month sentence handed him by a District Court on Wednesday.

“We entirely disagree with the findings of the court. We thought that we put up a very good defense. She [the judge] thought otherwise.”
“The real investigator of the case said from the evidence before her it was an accident. We have said it was an accident, she thought otherwise. We have taken instructions from our client to appeal immediately. We are going back to the chambers to start working on the appeal process,” lawyer for Chaaban said.
The Abeka District court sentenced Mr Chaaban to nine months in jail for dipping the face of Evelyn Boakye, a kitchen staff, in pepper paste.

Chabaan was found guilty of assault and causing harm.
