Ex-President John Mahama requested for the Vice President's house as ex-gratia when he was leaving office as the President of the Republic of Ghana, but the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) failed to grant him his request.
Former President Mahama was occupying the house when he was the Vice President and he decided to maintain it when he became the President of Ghana and due to familiarity he requested to stay in the $14m mansion after he was voted out, however, the ruling government turned it down.
