Former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell says he feels honoured to promote peace in Ghana ahead of the 2016 elections which will be held on November 7.
The ex-England centre back is joined by former Middlesbrough captain George Boateng are in the country under the patronage of Primeval Media, who are organising two friendly matches, to preach peace ahead of the November polls.
The 41-year-old who played for the English National team from 1996 to 2007 representing his country in three FIFA World Cups says it is a privilege to play a role in promoting peace in Ghana.
“I feel honoured to be invited by Stephen Appiah and George Boateng to promote peace in Ghana,” Campbell said during the launch of the Peace match on Monday.
“It has always been an honour to be recognized for such historic events,” he added.
A football match between Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and a World select side will be played in Kumasi and Accra respectively in June 2016.
Campbell’s team, the World XI, which will be made up of players like Edgar Davids, Emile Heskey, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, Steve Mcmanaman, Patrick Kluivert and others will first play Asante Kotoko before they meet the Black Stars of Ghana in the second match.
