South Africa coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba has been fired for insulting top football officials last month, the national association said.
A disciplinary committee found Mashaba guilty of several offences following his public outburst aimed at the association president Danny Jordaan and guests directly after the 2-1 victory over Senegal on 12 November.

“Due to the seriousness of the coach’s actions, we had to release our head coach with immediate effect,” the SAFA chief executive, Dennis Mumble, said in a statement on Thursday.
“We shall immediately institute a search for a new head coach familiar with African football competition, who will be expected to continue the quest to qualify for the world’s apex football competition.”

The coach was suspended after Bafana beat Senegal 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier in Polokwane last month.
Mashaba confronted SAFA officials including President Danny Jordaan, ahead of his post-match TV interview and accused them of not giving him enough support.
