Calm restored to Tema Motorway tollbooth after 'NPP men' took over

Some irate youth believed to be supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday morning seized and took over the tollbooths.

Calm has returned at the toll booths located at the Ashaiman end of the Accra-Tema motorway after some  irate youth believed to be supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday morning seized and took over the tollbooths.

The young men are reported to have stormed the tollbooths and had ordered the workers collecting the tolls to vacate the area.

They subsequently took the keys, locked the booths, and allowed cars free passage.

But Police in Tema got notified of the incident and they immediately deployed men to the area to restore calm.

The Public Relations Officer for the Tema Regional Police Command, ASP Juliana Obeng, however, said no arrest have been so far in relation to the incident.
