Hamilton won his third world championship by taking a vital victory following a first-corner coming together with his team-mate in Austin.

Rosberg bounced back from that disappointment to win the Mexico Grand Prix on Sunday, after a controversial pit-stop strategy which called in Hamilton with 25 laps to go.

The Brit initially questioned the decision and chose to stay out one lap longer than planned but dismissed suggestions the team had orchestrated the result.

"I never think those kind of things," he said.

Hamilton added: "But I know the team has felt the need to be extra warm [to Rosberg]."

When pushed to elaborate on his comments, the 30-year-old pointed in the direction of Mercedes management.

"I do know what I mean but I'm not going to say what I mean," he said. "You should ask Toto Wolff [Mercedes team boss] and Niki Lauda [Mercedes non-executive chairman].

"You should put those questions to them about how they feel about it, and what they have to do behind the scenes to keep him happy."
