Flower unsuccessful with appeal Wigan Warriors

Ben Flower will definitely miss Wigan Warriors' Super League semi-final after an appeal against a two-match ban was rejected.

Flower was sanctioned with the suspension and a £300 fine after being sent off for a late challenge on Declan Patton in the Warriors' 35-28 victory over Warrington Wolves last Friday.

The forward connected with a high shot on Patton when closing down the Wolves half-back as he kicked the ball forward.

Flower was found guilty of a reckless Grade C strike by the Rugby Football League and his appeal against his ban was rejected on Wednesday.

His two-game ban means Flower will miss this weekend's final match of the Super 8s against Catalans Dragons and Wigan's semi-final.

However, Flower will be free to play in the Grand Final should the Warriors get that far.

Flower previously served a six-month ban for punching St Helens' Lance Hohaia in the 2014 Grand Final.
