The Pumas finished fourth at the showpiece event, losing the third-place play-off 24-13 to South Africa in London on Friday.
Hundreds of fans welcomed Hourcade's team home as they landed at the Ezeiza International Airport on Monday.
Hourcade said he was proud of how the Pumas performed at the World Cup.
"The balance is clearly positive. Reaching the last four was a great achievement," he said.
"We wanted to make the quarter-finals, but also wanted to enter the semi-finals and we did.
"More than anything I think the balance is positive that leaves us very happy."
Argentine Rugby Union president Carlos Araujo was also full of praise for Hourcade and the Pumas.
"This is a group of players who developed affection between them, with the staff, with the leaders," he said.
"It was really great to see this."
