Unfortunately, chilling out isn't always so easy. That's why one person turned to Reddit to crowd source coping mechanisms.

Some people released their frustrations in the gym, but many people on Reddit opted for something even more basic: walking.

"Long walks. Like seriously long. 3-4 hours. Sometimes 7-8 hours. Just me, my headphones (until they die) and a nice, flat trail. Does wonders for my psyche," one person wrote. For one person, stress walking even took a toll on their footwear.

"When my mom was in the hospital I paced in the hall, ended up wearing through the heels of 3 pairs of socks from pacing for 10 hours all 3 days," they wrote.

Other Reddit users needed something more than walking to occupy their minds. Numerous people distracted themselves with creative pursuits like writing poems, stories, or music. Some turned to video games, adult coloring books, and puzzles.

"Doing puzzles at midnight is my current form of meditation. It requires a certain amount of focus, concentration and strategy, but just little enough to still be able to autopilot. Whenever I find my mind wandering I bring it back to the puzzle," explained one Redditor.

And perhaps unsurprisingly, there were people who used the social sharing platform as an escape.

"Browsing Reddit to distract myself from a potential breakdown," one user wrote.
