According to reports, girls and women who were recently rescued from Boko Haram terrorists opened fire on the soldiers who took them out of Sambisa Forest.
The freed captives shot at their rescuers as they advanced to take them out of captivity, the Associated Press reports.
This has led experts to say that the rescued captives would need intensive psychological treatment to enable them resume normal lives following their traumatic experience.
“The processing is continuing, it involves a lot of things because most of them are traumatised and you have got to put them in a psychological frame of mind to extract information from them,” Army spokesman, Sani Usman said.
Colonel Usman also added that the military was flying in medical and intelligence teams to evaluate the rescued captives.
