13-yr-old class 4 pupil commits suicide

A 13-year-old class four pupil of the Bethel Preparatory School in Somanya in the Eastern region has committed suicide.

The minor was found hanging on the 2nd floor of the school building Sunday evening.

Sources at the school say the deceased did not show any sign of depression or worry prior to the act. He had, however, expressed concerns about the theft of his pocket money sent by his father some days ago.

The Somanya Police Commander DSP Albert Deletsa who confirmed the incident to Starr FM said the deceased was early Sunday morning found playing with his mates at the boarding house. He said investigations have commenced into the matter.

Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the Atua Government Hospital morgue.
