Jordan Ayew shrugs off 'bad boy' tag

Jordan Ayew is a believer in fate, thinks he is not a bad boy and has good qualities

Jordan Ayew is growing into the player he has always been expected to be. The Ghanaian forward joined English Premier League side Aston Villa from French club FC Lorient, a club he joined after a troubled Olympique Marseille career.

The player had a slow start to his Villa career but has cracked out of his shell to emerge as one of Aston Villa’s top performers despite their poor run of form.

The Black Stars player in an interview with French radio stations RMC said he is a believer in fate and has never regretted leaving Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille, where he was tagged a 'bad boy'. The player said:

“Everywhere I succeeded, except in Marseille. I do not regret [leaving], because I am a believer in fate.

"Today, I am happy. What happened at Marseille is over. I do not think I'm a bad boy and I have good qualities.

“In England I arrived, and nobody knew me. It was better to me like that, my whole family is happy."

Jordan Ayew and his Aston Villa side go into the festive Premier League fixtures bottom of the league. Aston Villa entertain West Ham United on Boxing Day before travelling to Norwich City on Monday. Remi Garde’s side with then travel to Sunderland on the day after New Year’s Day as they seek their first win since the opening day of the Premier League season.
