FIFA Ballon d’Or finalist for the year 2015, Lionel Messi would trade 5 FIFA Ballon d’Or wins for helping his Argentina side win a FIFA World Cup trophy.

Messi is in line for a fifth Ballon d’Or win after winning the accolade four times already in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The Barcelona star competes with three-time winner and winner of the last two years Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid and Brazilian player Neymar for this year’s award in Zurich tonight.

In a press talk ahead of the main event on Monday night, a fan on social media asked four-time winner Lionel Messi which he would choose: winning the Ballon d’Or five times or winning a FIFA World Cup trouphy.

Lionel Messi admittedly said the question was a tough one but preferred a FIFA World Cup trophy to 5 Ballon d’Or awards. The Argentina player explained the reason behind his answer was that he believed in team performance than individual performance.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s question from social media was about why he wore the number 7 jersey. The player said he felt in love with the number that can be associated with all his football success during his time at Manchester United. The player however disclosed the fear when Sir Alex Ferguson handed him the number because he knew David Beckham had worn the jersey during his time at the club.

Neymar also said his technical know-how and skill are both a result of hard work and talent combined after a fan asked him which of the two made [talent or hard work] makes him the player that he is.
