Coronavirus: Ghana embassy in Madrid suspends consular services indefinitely

The Ghana Embassy in Madrid, Spain, has suspended its consular services until further notice due to the outbreak of the coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in that country.

A public notice from the embassy said the suspension starts on March 4, 2020.

It added that the suspension is “aimed at protecting the general public who gather at the embassy for the consular services, and the officers who attend to them from contracting the virus.”

The total confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Spain as of Wednesday (March 4, 2020) was 198 with one death.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the global number of reported coronavirus cases stood at 92,943, with 3,160 people dead from the virus.

The virus has been recorded in 81 countries and territories around the world. Aside from China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy have emerged as hotspots.

The number of confirmed cases in Italy is more than 3,000.

In Ghana over 40 suspected cases have all tested negative.
