20-year-old man butchers mother’s ex-lover to death

The young man allegedly committed the crime after a struggle ensued between his mother and the ex-lover and she shouted for help.

According to the GNA, the pleas of Mary Mamle and her son, Edward Atteh were not taken and would make their next appearance on November 08.

Narrating the incident to the court presided over by Mr. Benjamin Benneth Attabra, Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel Ankrah said the incident happened on October 09, around 9 p.m.

He said the deceased, Senam Tetteh who is an ex-lover of Mamle, was alleged to have gone to the house of the accused, entered her room and began ransacking her traveling bags.

Reports say the woman questioned the deceased, but he ignored her.

Inspector Ankrah said Mamle attempted to stop the deceased, which resulted in a struggle and Mamle shouted for help.

Prosecution said Atteh was sleeping in the next and rushed to the aid the mother when he heard her scream. He then ordered the deceased out of the room, but he refused and a fight ensued between the two.

The deceased allegedly attempted to hit Atteh with a club but failed.

The suspect got infuriated, rushed into his room and reached for a cutlass and began slashing him until he dropped dead, according to the GNA.

Edward Atteh then fled the crime scene while the mother went to inform the Dademantse, after sensing danger.  The Dademantse then handed her over to the police and Atteh was arrested later.
