The Green and Whites defeated Braga 1-0 at the Estadio do Algarve to win the 2017 Taca da Liga (Portuguese League Cup), their first top flight trophy in their 79 year history. A late first half penalty from Cauê Cecilio da Silva was all they needed to beat 2013 winners Braga.

Boateng replaced Portuguese teammate Roberto Porfirio in the 61st minute of the game.

The 20-year-old had scored a brace in the semi-final last Thursday when Moreirense saw off giants Benfica 3-1.

Boateng, a product of Darkuman-Bubuashie-based Charity Stars, joined Moreirense in July 2015 from Rio Ave, where he had spent a year after transferring from Ghana in 2014.

He has scored seven goals in 17 games for coach Augusto Ignacio's Moreirense men this season.

Though yet to be capped for Ghana, Boateng has represented the country at U-17 and U-20 levels. He played at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, where he scored once as the Black Satellites crashed out in the Round of 16.
